I am not impressed! I think I'm coming down with a cold! I worked Friday night and today and I have to go into the store to make lunch for tomorrow but the rest of the week is all mine to rest and fight this - whatever it is!!!! I got a little too "Cocky" there (ha,ha being the head rooster has its benefits).
On one of my trips to the U.S. I bought a series of patterns I really liked thinking they were full size quilts - when I went to start making one it turned out they are miniatures so if you didn't read the store blog - here's the quilt I worked on while I was at the store......
I went to my Farmer's WIfe stash and my Civil War fabrics and managed to hand pick each fabric - it's really adorable.....there are only 2 or 3 repeats of fabric in the whole quilt. Now I just have to add the borders...there's a couple of little tips on the Cock A Doodle blog if you're interested - http://www.cockadoodlequilts.blogspot.com/.
I also finally got the needle and thread out again to work on my Farmer's Wife blocks.
Block 23 - Country Farm. I've been so busy marking and cutting that I have about 20 blocks ready to be sewn. I figured I'd better get to it.....evening work upstairs in my room....
It'll keep me busy while I recuperate from whatever this is, not to mention the original plan was to have a bunch ready to sew up while I am recuperating from surgery, just around the corner......
Will keep you all posted on my progress, blocks and health!
Have a great day everyone!

I'm back......
...with the living that is! Takes a few days after the treatment to get back to normal but had a pretty easy time this time. Of course, I'm pretty sure it's because after last week's great news I can easily grin and bear it!
I was at the store yesterday, worked from 2 to 8 and then we had Applique Club. Being the summer, it was Annadele, Laurissa and I and we had a great time. Laurissa and I were there until 11:30 because Bill, from Nerds on Site was busy fixing the store computer so we had to wait until he was done but it was great fun and I got started on a miniature I had been meaning to do - I'll post a pic later and I even have a couple of tips for this one!
Today I am home, cleaning and cooking! I hate that it takes me forever when it used to be a quick job but I certainly am taking pride in every little accomplishment. I need to prepare lunch for Monday which serves 2 purposes! I will be making one of my favorite recipes and that way I can add it to the Cock A Doodle recipe book that I am compiling! Kind of like killing two birds with one stone - I hate that saying LOL
I find I have to take a break between each chore so it becomes extremely tedious! Tomorrow I will be at the store from 11 to 5 and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm certainly finding more and more energy these days. Where there's a will there's a way!
I also managed to get a Farmer's Wife block done the other day and started another so I'm actually getting quite a bit done these days......I credit this to knowing that I AM going to beat this thing - right into the ground!!!!!
Have a great day everyone - will try to keep up with all my trials and tribulations, not to mention my creations!

I've been missing!
I can't believe that I've been off the grid for 5 days! It really didn't seem that long but the evidence is the blog which shows the last posting as June 7th! At any rate I have had some pretty good days - mostly doing alot of paper work which has been long overdue.
I was getting ready for a short visit from my friend Libby and her mom, Pauline, who are on their way to Mexico for a week. They arrived last night at around 4:30 P.M. but more about that later. I spent 3 days cleaning the house and even though it felt like it took forever it was well worth the effort......you can actually see the floor!!!!
For me it was a major overhaul, getting all the projects sorted and put aside.....of course it's important to let you know that not everything got sorted but the floors all clean and clear and it just feels great. I really would love to keep it that way.....Surprisingly, Jonathan has been pretty good about this, he's been keeping it pretty clean but it's early days yet.....
Even the hallway is clear (can't wait to get some stuff up on those blank walls - soon!).......
So, even though it's been cleaned, the boxes of paper work and bags with projects still needed a home and the office/den is not so clean looking......it soon will be though because those boxes are going to the accountant shortly......
Unfortunately my desk still leaves alot to be desired! Once Rich gets that Bulletin board up I will fix up the desk and get some great stuff up on the walls.... the house is still a work in progress but it's slowly coming along......
So in honour of Libby, since she went to so much trouble cleaning, cooking and doing laundry while she looked after me in May after my first chemo treatment I wanted her to know that all her efforts didn't go to waste. They arrived yesterday afternoon and then came Suzi and Barb and the 5 of us headed out to dinner at Zets out by the airport! The best food ever! Chicken souvlaki, gyros, burgers, steaks and to die for Fish & Chips! You can't go wrong - the food is amazing! I've been going there for a number of years and I introduced Libby to it a couple of years ago - she never misses an opportunity to go there when she's in town.....
We all went back to my place for dessert, Strawberry Shortcake, and coffee! Admittedly I was exhausted but it was an amazing evening spent with good friends. Libby brought two quilts which she machined quilted for Suzi and they are both absolutely amazing. Once Suzi has the binding on them I'll ask her if I can take some pictures......Libby is an extremely accomplished machine quilter, all this in one year, she took to it like a duck to water!
Speaking of quilting, I started my "Milestone Diary" today. It's basically a list of the things I want to accomplish each day (the blog was #7 but so far I still need to do 2-6, I skipped ahead for the blog). It's not that I have to accomplish everything each day - it's just a guide for me, but each time I tick something off I feel great!
Barb took me shopping on Friday evening and it took me two hours to go through Metro - it never took that long before, I feel so slow moving! The walking is a chore but I got everything I needed and that included quite a bit of fresh meat. This afternoon, in two sessions, I prepped and froze what we're not using immediately. That used to take 1/2 hour to an hour, today I had to split it up but still I got it done. Learning my current limitations appears to be part of the process here. Before I would just push on and then end up sick or just not feeling well. Now, I stop as soon as I feel I've had enough....
So now I'm off to layer and pin two baby quilts, maybe set up the Bernina and/or the Janome and quilt or piece....I fgure I owe myself some "fun" time and relaxition and that begins with a Q for quilting!!!!!
Have a great day everyone!

Only one photo.....
.....tonight! All my checkerboard blocks are done - YEAH! and now I am doing a blanket stitch around the applique on the alternate blocks.....
I was originally going to do this with invisible thread but then I decided I liked the look of matching threads better so that is the plan.....however, I am finding that the Soft Fuse is not strong enough to just stitch around the applique by machine. Barb suggested that I try Totally Stable so I have put the project to bed for tonight and will try that tomorrow....thanks again Barb! She knows everything - an encyclopedia of quilting - she should write a book! Seriously!!!!
Got an e-mail today from my friend Laurissa who I am going to take behind the store and shoot!!!!! Check this out http://www.civilwarquilts.blogspot.com/ and you will see why! Just another project to start......what a brat! She knew I wouldn't be able to resist this one!
I am going to put this blog on my list of favourites and it seems there's going to be a new block each week, so, maybe I can keep up - I mean what's one block a week! Really (until you get behind 3 or 4 weeks!?!?!).
Okay, gonna call it a night and head for bed early for a change....
Hope everyone has a great day!
